GVMH MEETS THE HIGHEST SAFETY STANDARDS That work has paid off, as GVMH has earned national recognition for the level of safe care we provided.The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit healthcare ratings organization, ranks hospitals with letter grades of A, B, C, D and F, based on prevention of medical errors, infections and other harms. GVMH was one of 832 hospitals awarded an “A” for meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. GVMH is ranked first in Missouri for Value-Based Purchasing by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS looks at the potential for patient harm when assigning ranks. A low risk for patient harm through events such as infections or falls earns a high ranking with CMS. GVMH has been ranked first in Missouri in the patient safety domain four quarters in a row, and 12th in the nation. RIGOROUS INFECTION CONTROL An important piece of the department that contributes to the outstanding record is infection control.
